Who We Are.
What We Stand For.

WHO WE ARE

LAUKOA is a Native Hawaiian Company

LAUKOA represents the portfolio of companies of Hawaiian Native Corporation (HNC), a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) established in 2004 and federally certified by the SBA.

Growing with Purpose

From DAWSON to LAUKOA

For more than two decades, DAWSON has delivered trusted solutions rooted in Native Hawaiian values and community impact. Today, we move forward as LAUKOA, a new name inspired by the koa tree and grounded in resilience, stewardship, and growth. While our name has evolved, our mission, leadership, and commitment to excellence remain the same. LAUKOA represents the next chapter of our story, one that continues to honor our roots while building toward the future.

Effective June 29, 2026, the portfolio companies of Hawaiian Native Corporation collectively and previously known as DAWSON will be known as LAUKOA. Our brand reflects who we are today and where we’re headed tomorrow. As we have grown and evolved, it’s important that our brand evolves with us to clearly represent our mission, vision, capabilities, and long-term direction.

With this rebrand, there will be no change to company leadership, points of contact, addresses, FEIN, UEI, CAGE codes, or banking information. The names of the individual portfolio companies of HNC will legally change. Per FAR 42.12, upon signature and filing of Change of Name Agreements, our customers will receive formal notification and further communication regarding any contract modification requirements. Subcontractors, partners, and vendors will also receive further information as legal names change. Please note that this website will be updated to reflect when company name changes take effect in SAM.gov.

Our Name

The name LAUKOA draws inspiration from the koa tree: an enduring symbol of strength, resilience, and connection to ʻāina (the land). Formed from two Hawaiian words, lau, meaning “leaf” or “many,” and koa, referring to both the tree and a warrior, the name reflects a balance between our cultural roots and purposeful growth.

The sickle-shaped mature leaves of the koa tree reflect laulima, many hands working as one to support our ‘ohana, our community.

The leaves form an ‘umeke, a bowl providing nourishment, a place for ideas/community to come together.

The vertical tiers of young koa leaves symbolize future growth and continuity, a reminder of our kuleana to those who came before us, those with us today, and generations yet to come.

The mature and young leaves represent the ‘āina, that which sustains us and which we must care for.

Together, these elements become LAUKOA.
